UNITED DFC are excited to announce an exciting new level of partnership with the ACCEL Physiotherapy and Sport Performance Centre in Dartmouth.

Over the next three months ACCEL’s team of professionals will work with United DFC’s High Performance teams, from U13-U17 Girls and Boys, on the key areas of Mental Performance, Injury Prevention and Nutrition.

The players will receive guidance and instruction in a specially designed series of sessions delivered at ACCEL’s state of the art Dartmouth HQ.

Karen Decker, President of ACCEL Physiotherapy and Sport Performance Centre, said: “The ACCEL Sport Performance services are structured around the model of Canada’s Olympic and National teams which is the development of the complete athlete, mind and body, along with injury prevention measures to keep athletes on the field. ACCEL is honoured to have the opportunity to share their Sport Performance program with the coaches and players of UDFC. We are also excited to continue helping all members of the UDFC with any pain, injury, concussions and more from our experienced Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, and Massage Therapy team.”

The partnership sees ACCEL become shirt sleeve sponsors of United DFC’s successful High Performance Training program.

ACCEL President Karen will also deliver an education session for coaches throughout United DFC as the club looks to heighten its knowledge on warm-up, cool-down and recovery techniques for their athletes.

David Campbell, Executive Director of United DFC, said: “We are very excited to have the team at Accel Physiotherapy partnering with United DFC. Karen has a wealth of experience at the top level of sport having attended three Olympic Games in Athens (2004), Beijing (2008) and Pyeong Chang (2018) and the Commonwealth Games in Scotland (2014) as part of the Canadian Health Care Team. Having a professional sport science team of this calibre will enhance our high performance programs. We are very grateful to be working with Karen and her team as they will provide a best in class experience for our athletes.”

From a soccer standpoint the ACCEL partnership underpins United DFC’s commitment to add value to our programs and to create more rounded and knowledgeable soccer players.

Iain King, Technical Director (Youth and Senior), said: “Karen has already been superb with us in terms of sharing her experience and knowledge and tailoring it to specific areas of the club we are seeking to improve.

“The players and coaches throughout the club will benefit hugely from this partnership and we look forward to learning from the ACCEL team and seeing this relationship grow in the years to come.”
