Volunteering Opportunities

As you all know UDFC would not run without the tireless and amazing efforts of all of our volunteers. As the club grows, so does it need for volunteers. UDFC is looking for all types of volunteers: behind the scenes organizers, front line event workers, proofreaders, social media, promotions, jersey and gear organization.

Below you will find a list of areas the club needs help, with short descriptions of what the task/event requires. If anything piques your interest or you want more information please send us an email at info@udfc.ca.

 

Registration - UDFC currently has 2 registration seasons each year. Some of the tasks that volunteers can help with are:

  • Proofread forms and registration posts for errors

  • Volunteer at the” in-person registration” at the UDFC office - 1, 2 or 3 hour shifts during the weeks of Feb 18 - 28

  • Answer email questions for other members about registration

  • Assign players to teams along with jersey numbers

  • Putting up and taking down lawn signs in high traffic areas

 

Jerseys - This winter UDFC has started the Jersey 4 Life program. This program will let players keep their jerseys across seasons. However each season there will be players new to UDFC and or players who have grown out of their jersey that need a new size. Areas we are seeking help with are:

  • Jersey organization

  • Build jersey sets for those teams whose players need a jersey

  • Man in-office jersey hand out and swap for new sizes on May 2-3 (1-2 hour shifts)

 

Equipment - Last summer UDFC had as many as 200+ teams on the field. Organizing and getting balls, cones, pinnies, etc. to all those teams is a lot of work. Our volunteers help make this happen and we are looking for individuals to assist with:

  • Counting and organization of balls, cones, pinnies

  • Inspection and repair of nets

  • Man in-office equipment pick up for coaches on April 18th (for performance teams), May 9th (for community teams)

 

Club Clothing/ Inventory- The club is looking to form a committee of volunteers who will make decisions about club clothing and help with inventory/ stocking including:

  • Inventory counting

  • 3-4 meetings a year to make decisions (retire items, bring in new items)

 

Social Media/ Communication - The club is always looking to improve our social media brand and presence. We would welcome volunteers who can help us build our followers and improve our content.  In particular with:

  • We are looking for volunteers at each age group/ level who would take photos of UDFC players in action and post using the @UnitedDFC tags. 

  • Inform UDFC about events or milestones that are happening in each group so we are able to share the news with the club as a whole.

 

Events - UDFC holds many events over the course of the year. Some of these include Soccer by the Sea, Mini Mania, Volunteer appreciation, and the UDFC Fun Run. It takes a lot of hands to get these events off the ground and make them successful. Some of the types of activities are:

  • Before Event organization - rentals, planning, organizing and purchasing food

  • Day of event  - managing registration tables, canteen, field set up, clean up

  • Promotion of each event

 

UDFC  thrives because of the generosity of our volunteers. We are all part of the club to give our children the best experience possible. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. It feels good to give back and be connected within the club and community.
