Josh Bowser signs as Skills School Ambassador

UNITED DFC are delighted to reveal that former Dartmouth United player Josh Bowser will

coach with the club as a Skills School Ambassador throughout this summer.

Josh is a storied alumni of the club having developed his skills at United before captaining the Nova Scotia Provincial team and starring for the Shattuck-St Mary’s Academy side in the States.

He went on to have an excellent NCAA career with DePaul University in Chicago and was voted onto the 2019-20 All-Academic team.

Josh is a shining example to our younger players of what can be achieved with dedication both on and off the field.

He is now back home for the summer before heading off to medical school in Antigua and we are delighted he will be part of the Technical Staff to pass on his experience and expertise to our developing players.

Josh said: “It’s exciting to see all the changes at United DFC with initiatives like Skills School and now the new Performance Plus Program and I’m delighted to be involved.

“I know from my own experience how much the right guidance can help you achieve your dreams and I’m looking forward to working with our dedicated young players.”

Technical Director (Youth and Senior) Iain King has been thrilled with the success of the first Skills Schools venture.

The opening offering has seen sessions led by Iain and fellow Technical Director Ollie Hewish supplemented by special visits from the University Head Coaches from Dalhousie, St Mary’s, St Francis Xavier and Acadia.

Now Skills School Summer 2021 will see sports psychology and nutrition experts brought in to enhance the program and Iain said: “I feel it is hugely important for our players to have role models like Josh to work with.

“Aside from the influence he can have working with them on the field he has also excelled academically and can talk to them about how to balance your life as a student athlete.

“He is a terrific addition to the Skills School staff and I look forward to working together when we kick off the Summer 2021 on June 1.”
